We have physiotherapists trained in Womens Health and pregnancy related issues running the course which is tailored to maximising health and wellbeing for both mum and the new baby.

Pilates can be safely used by pregnant women to learn proper breathing, body alignment, and recover body shape and tone after pregnancy.

Pilates is the ideal exercise program to use in the months leading up to your baby's birth, and in the weeks following, to get your body back into shape. Pilates strengthens the most important muscles you'll use during pregnancy and labor: your abdominals, pelvic and back muscles. It can take 6 months for the body to recover from a new born and during this time we are very vulnerable to musculoskeletal disorders and womens health problems.

If you are unsure whether Pilates is right for you during these stages our physiotherapists Siona, Karen and Sharon can assess your needs, requirements and risk factors. Book a session today!

What are the sessions like?

Each pregnancy and each woman is different. At Physio on Brunswick, pilates sessions are conducted one-on-one, or in closely supervised small groups with our certified teacher. Each session is tailored to your specfic needs to ensure a safe work out.

Is it safe?

Yes, being active throughout your pregnancy is a huge benefit for both baby and mum. Pilates will help you stay physically active and flexible, which is not only important to your health, and that of the baby, but also aids recovery and can help with post-weight maintenance.
