Pilates

Physio on Brunswick offers quality individual and group sessions with mat and machines in Pilates. We also offer classes in your workplace, please email us info@physioonbrunswick.com for further information for workplace Pilates.

We are used to people with injuries which is where we specialise so machine classes are restricted to 2 people per session (3 dependent on individual needs) and mat classes generally have not more than 4 people per session with the maximum being 6. With small groups we can ensure there is individual attention and there is no risk of aggravating existing or old injuries focusing on weaknesses and problem areas to prevent these problems.

The Pilates method of exercise offers a focused well-controlled physical program for the whole body. While aiming to improve aspects such as strength, flexibility, co-ordination and posture, emphasis is also placed on helping clients to gain control of their body for a more balanced efficient way of moving. The exercises used in our Pilates sessions have been proven scientifically to reduce low back pain and prevent reoccurrence by up to 80% and we have many success stories in getting rid of knee, neck and shoulder problems as well as incontinence.

It is safe and effective and compliments the medical management of many injuries. Pilates is all about 'how to move', not just improving fitness. Plus, the functional strength and flexibility learnt in Pilates can be carried over into daily living habits, sports & hobbies.

The Physio on Brunswick Pilates Team uses Pilates to correct poor mechanics that underly injuries, improve posture and flexibility, create firmer and flatter stomach muscles, better trunk stabilisation, enhanced centre and breathing control, greater resistance to injury, overall body toning, and safe injury management.

Thiago, Natasha, Alanna, Sean and Sharon, our qualified Pilates Instructor at Physio on Brunswick have had vast specialist injury management training using Pilates, having been instructed and trained by expert Pilates consultants. They are able to combine their knowledge of pilates exercises with their sound understanding of injury pathology to develop the most appropriate program for you.
